Peruvian Comment Period for Figs And Pomegranates

The U.S. Department of Agriculture’sAnimal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) has prepared a pest risk analysis to evaluate risks associated with the importation of fresh pomegranates and figs from Peru into the continental U.S. Based on the analysis, APHIS has determined that the application of one or more designated phytosanitary measures is sufficient to mitigate the risks of introducing or disseminating plant pests or noxious weeds via the importation of these fruits from Peru. The agency has published a Notice of Availability of the Analysis and risk mitigations for comment in the Federal Register. The comment period will close on May 13, 2016.
