U.S. to Allow Imports of Ecuadorian Dragon Fruit
The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has granted approval for Ecuadorian dragon fruit (pitahaya), imports to the continental U.S. effective Tuesday, July 20, 2017.
Requirements of import include fruit fly trapping, pre-harvest inspections, and apply only to fruit from approved production sites within Ecuador. Additionally, according to the USDA, packing houses in Ecuador must put procedures in place procedures to stop the movement of quarantined pests.
