APHIS to Allow Expanded Fruit/Vegetable Imports from DR

Effective immediately, the Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) is lifting the Federal Order issued on March 18, 2015, prohibiting certain fruits and vegetables from the Dominican Republic into the United States.

No Medflies have been trapped in the Dominican Republic since January 9, 2017 indicating that APHIS’ requirements for eradication of Medfly have been met. Therefore, APHIS is lifting the Federal Order restricting the import of Medfly host fruits and vegetables from Dominican Republic in the United States.The affected commodities are listed below:

  • Avocado

  • Grape

  • Lemon

  • Litchi

  • Longan

  • Mamey sapote

  • Mango

  • Orange, sour

  • Orange, sweet

  • Papaya

  • Pepper

  • Pummelo

  • Tangelo

  • Tangerine/clementine/mandarin

  • Tomato

  • Tuna (prickly pear)
