Copies of Forms 28 and 29 to be sent to Customs Brokers

Sub-committee members of the NCBFAA Centers and directors of the Centers of Excellence and Expertise (CEEs) recently agreed that U.S. Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) will begin sending courtesy copies of CBP Requests for Information (CBP Form 28) and Notice of Actions (CBP Form 29) directly to the Customs Brokers that filed the Entry. In the past, the forms were provided to the Importer with a courtesy copy to the Customs Broker.  This courtesy copy began happening less and less, preventing Customs Brokers from helping the Importer to respond in a timely manner.

However, until a fully automated method is developed, the CEEs committed to sending courtesy copies by mail or email attachment to the broker contact listed in the importer’s portal account.  All agreed that this would be the most consistent approach.
