Due to a lapse in appropriations for Agricultural Marketing Service as of October 1, the Agricultural Marketing Service has initiated the process of orderly shutdown of nonessential appropriated operations. You can view USDA’s plans for a lapse in appropriations at

We understand the uncertainty that the current circumstances present for Americans that USDA serves every day, as well as our many partners around the country. Effective today, many Agricultural Marketing Service staff will be furloughed pending reinstatement of funding by Congress. These staff will not be available by phone or email, and cannot carry out work for the Agency, until funding is restored.

For the Agricultural Marketing Service, this means that many services will be delayed or interrupted. For example, all staff from Market News, Transportation and Market Development, the National Organic Program, Marketing Orders and Agreements, Country of Origin Labeling, the Pesticide Data Program, the Federal Seed Act, Shell Egg Surveillance, Standardization, Specialty Crop Block Grant Administration, and Federal State Marketing Improvement Program Administration will be furloughed, thus these activities will cease until funding becomes available.

We are committed to keeping you as up to date as possible, within the limits of current circumstances.
We will continue to monitor the situation and send out updates as we receive them.

Thank you for your continued support.
