Hurricane Maria Weather/Operations Update 09/21/2017

Hurricane Maria Update: 09/21/2017 1300EST

Our thoughts and prayers are with our friends, families and colleagues throughout the Caribbean. Crowley’s Corporate Emergency Management team continues monitoring Hurricane Maria, which remains a major Category 3 hurricane still affecting Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic.

Safety is Crowley’s No. 1 core value, and as such we are taking all appropriate steps to ensure the safety of personnel, including our mariners, all of our vessels, facilities and your cargo. We are coordinating with our vessels to review their routes and plans to keep them well clear of the storm.

At this time, we are experiencing disruptions beyond our control with many of our services. The following list contains specific information on those ports and facilities experiencing closings or alternate operating hours due to the storm.

San Juan, PR:

  • The port of San Juan, PR, and government offices, including Hacienda are closed.

  • Our terminals, warehouses, and offices are closed until the storm’s impact has been assessed and safe resumption of operations can be determined.

U.S. Virgin Islands:

  • St. Thomas offices and terminals are expected to reopen tomorrow at 0800 EST.

  • St. Croix offices and terminals are closed until the storm impact has been assessed and safe resumption of operations can be determined.

Eastern Caribbean:

  • Our St. Maarten terminal and offices are currently closed.

  • All other terminals, warehouses, and offices are currently open and operating normally, though delays are expected.

Western Caribbean:

  • The port of Rio Haina, our terminals, warehouse, and offices in the Dominican Republic remain closed.

  • Haiti, Cuba, and Jamaica ports, terminals and offices are operating normally at this time.

We are coordinating with our vessels to review their routes and plans to keep them well clear of the storm.

Crowley’s Corporate Emergency Management team continues monitoring Hurricane Maria, now a major Category 5 hurricane.  Based on current forecasts, the hurricane is expected to impact St. Croix and Puerto Rico tomorrow, Wednesday, September 20.

Safety is Crowley’s No. 1 core value, and as such we are taking all appropriate steps to ensure the safety of personnel, including our mariners, all of our vessels, facilities and your cargo. We are coordinating with our vessels to review their routes and plans to keep them well clear of the storm.

The following list contains information on those ports and facilities potentially affected by the storm.

San Juan, PR:

  • The port of San Juan, PR, and government offices, including Hacienda are closed.

  • Our terminals, warehouses, and offices will remain closed through September 20.

U.S. Virgin Islands:

  • Our St. Thomas and St. Croix offices and terminals will remain closed through September 20.

Eastern Caribbean:

  • The port of Castries in St. Lucia, our terminal, warehouse, and offices are currently open and operating normally.

Western Caribbean:

  • The port of Rio Haina, our terminals, warehouse, and offices in the Dominican Republic are currently operating normally, but are expected to close at noon tomorrow, September 20.

  • Haiti, Cuba, and Jamaica ports, terminals and offices are operating normally at this time.

Hurricane Maria Update: 09/18/2017 1300EST

Crowley’s Corporate Emergency Management team is monitoring Hurricane Maria, a Category 3 hurricane tracking towards the Leeward Islands, US Virgin Islands, and Puerto Rico. The hurricane is predicted to strengthen to a Category 4 hurricane prior to landfall in Puerto Rico around 1000 EST Wednesday, September 20.

Safety is Crowley’s No. 1 core value, and as such we are taking all appropriate steps to ensure the safety of personnel, including our mariners, all of our vessels, facilities and your cargo. We are coordinating with our vessels to review their routes and plans to keep them well clear of the storm.

San Juan, PR:

  • Government offices, including Hacienda, closed at 1200 EST today

  • Our offices, terminals and warehouses will close at 1700 EST today September 18, and will remain closed through September 19

  • The port of San Juan, PR is open and operating under U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) Condition X-Ray, with Condition Yankee expected this evening at 2000 EST.

U.S. Virgin Islands:

  • Our St. Thomas and St. Croix offices and terminals will close at 1700 EST today, September 18.

Eastern Caribbean:

  • The port of Castiries in St. Lucia and our offices are closed today, September 18.

Western Caribbean:

  • Ports, terminals and offices are operating normally at this time
